Iran, Indonesia Urge Collective Action against Israeli Crimes

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Indonesia called for concerted efforts by the Islamic countries to stop the Israeli regime’s atrocities against Palestinians and ensure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Indonesia counterpart Sugiono talked about the relations between Tehran and Jakarta and the latest regional and international developments.

The Iranian foreign minister described the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the crimes against Gaza as the world’s overriding concern, saying the Zionist regime has turned the Gaza Strip and the West Bank into a scene of genocide and torture with the full supports from the US and a number of other Western governments.

Araqchi also condemned the Israeli regime’s unrelenting attacks on Lebanon and Syria as well as the US’ military strikes against Yemen.

While the Israeli crimes and the US’ acts of aggression have exposed the entire region to an unprecedented level of insecurity, the Islamic countries need to take action to stop those atrocities and provide humanitarian aids for the people of Palestine, the top Iranian diplomat said.

For his part, the foreign minister of Indonesia expressed agreement with Araqchi’s stances on the situation in Palestine, stressing the need for consensus and joint efforts by the Muslim countries to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the opening of humanitarian routes into the enclave.

Sugiono also appreciated Araqchi for the information he gave about the course of indirect talks between Iran and the US.

The top Indonesian diplomat expressed hope that dialogue and diplomacy would produce the desired results.
