Pakistan Lauds Iran’s Stance on Tensions over Kashmir Attack
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar appreciated Iran’s constrictive stance on the recent tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi over a deadly attack in Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir.
In a telephone conversation on Friday evening, Ishaq Dar and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi talked about the escalating feud between Pakistan and India over the attack in Kashmir.
The Pakistani foreign minister provided information about the recent developments and praised Iran for adopting a constructive and responsible stance on the tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
For his part, Araqchi expressed regret for the outbreak of tensions, stressing the need for Pakistan and India to exercise self-restraint to manage the crisis.
Highlighting Iran’s amicable relations with Pakistan and India, Araqchi voiced Tehran’s readiness to help relieve the tensions and strengthen regional stability through its good offices.
Pakistan and India are suspending key treaties and cutting crucial ties as their feud over the deadly attack in Kashmir escalates.
Suspected rebels killed at least 26 people on Tuesday in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in the deadliest such attack in a quarter-century in Indian-administered Kashmir. A statement issued in the name of The Resistance Front (TRF), which is believed to be an offshoot of the Pakistani-based Lashkar-e-Taiba armed group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
