Pezeshkian Affirms Azerbaijan’s Sovereignty over Karabakh in Visit to Baku
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – During a landmark visit to Baku, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described Karabakh as an inseparable part of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Iranian president and his entourage arrived in Baku for an official visit on Monday.
Addressing a meeting of high-ranking delegations in the presence of his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev, Pezeshkian said it was an honor for him to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan as a brotherly and friendly neighbor.
He expressed hope that the agreements made during the presidential visit would help make greater strides in enhancing relations between the two countries.
Pezeshkian noted that the close historical and cultural bonds between the Iranian and Azeri nations will prepare the ground for a suitable path to the expansion of regional cooperation.
The president also passed warm greetings from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to the Azeri officials.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always insisted on supporting the rights of people of Azerbaijan and believes that the Karabakh region is an inseparable section of the Republic of Azerbaijan’s soil,” Pezeshkian stated.
He also described the high-ranking Iranian delegation’s visit to Baku as a sign of serious resolve to strengthen the bonds, build up unity, and promote solidarity between the two countries.
