The 54-year-old coach, who had previously parted ways with Nassaji in January following a five-month ban by the Disciplinary Committee of Iran’s Football Federation, returned to the team in mis-April as a replacement for Serbian coach Savo Milošević for the remainder of the season.
Nassaji was held to a goalless draw against Havadar on Thursday and was almost relegated from Iran Professional League.
Shortly after the match, Elhami stepped down from his role.
