Araqchi Talks to Pakistani FM During Visit to India

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – During a visit to New Delhi on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed the latest developments in South Asia with his Pakistani counterpart on the phone amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Araqchi, who was visiting New Delhi on Thursday for talks with senior Indian officials, held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Ishaq Dar in the afternoon.

The Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministers talked about the latest security developments in South Asia following the recent feud between Pakistan and India.

Pointing to his negotiations with the Indian authorities, Araqchi stressed the need for New Delhi and Islamabad to prevent the escalation of fighting and relieve tensions.

For his part, Ishaq Dar outlined Pakistan’s stances, saying his country does not seek to raise the tensions.

Prior to the phone conversation with the foreign minister of Pakistan, Araqchi held a meeting with National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval to discuss the latest regional and international developments.

In the meeting, the Iranian and Indian officials called for efforts to protect peace and stability in South Asia and take the necessary measures to reduce regional tensions.
