4th Round of Iran-US Talks Slated for May 11

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the new round of indirect talks with the US will be held on Sunday, May 11.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Araqchi said the Sultanate of Oman, which plays host to the indirect talks between Iran and the US, determines the time and location of the negotiations.

“The Omani friends asked us about Sunday, and we declared our approval. They (Omanis) have apparently held talks with the other side (the US) as well. For now, the negotiations are slated for Sunday,” Araqchi said.

“The negotiations are moving forward. It is natural that we will need further consultations as we move ahead,” he added.

The Iranian foreign minister noted that the negotiating delegations will need more time to work on the subjects mooted in the talks.

“What matters is that we are taking a path forward in order to go into details gradually,” Araqchi stated.

Iran and the US held three rounds of talks in Muscat and Rome on April 12, 19 and 26, mediated by Oman, with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
