UNRWA Demands Immediate Access to Gaza as Aid Stockpiles Remain in Jordan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The UN agency for Palestinian refugees on Friday called for urgent humanitarian access to Gaza, warning that critical aid supplies remain stuck in Jordan while conditions in the besieged enclave continue to deteriorate.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said essential humanitarian supplies, including food and medicine, have been stockpiled at its warehouse in the Jordanian capital Amman, just a three-hour drive from Gaza.

“In the UNRWA warehouse in Amman, we have enough supplies to sustain over 200,000 people for an entire month,” the agency stated.

“Flour, food parcels, hygiene kits, blankets, and medical supplies are ready to be delivered. Gaza needs aid at scale,” it added.

UNRWA emphasized that “an unhindered, uninterrupted flow of supplies must be allowed in.”

Despite the growing crisis, Israel has sealed all border crossings since March 2, choking off the entry of urgently needed resources for Gaza’s 2.4 million besieged residents.

Since launching its brutal war in October 2023, Israel has killed more than 54,200 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, according to health officials in Gaza.

International aid organizations have repeatedly warned that famine looms over the enclave as civilians are starved of food, water, and medical support.

The International Criminal Court in November issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

In a separate case, Israel is also standing trial at the International Court of Justice over charges of genocide for its atrocities against the Palestinian population.
