Iran Warns of Reaction to European Intrigue at IAEA

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi cautioned that Iran will consider a proportional response to the Europeans’ political moves at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors.

In a telephone conversation on Saturday, Araqchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reviewed the latest developments regarding the nuclear negotiations and the removal of sanctions and also exchanged views on the IAEA’s latest report on Iran.

Araqchi emphasized Iran’s continuous cooperation with the IAEA, reaffirming that all of Iran’s nuclear activities are conducted under the agency’s supervision and within the framework of the Safeguards Agreement.

There has been no deviation in Iran's nuclear activities or materials, he underlined, urging the IAEA director general to reflect the realities accurately and ensure that certain parties do not exploit the agency for political agendas against the Iranian people.

The Iranian foreign minister also requested that the IAEA head clarify Iran’s cooperation with the agency during the next week’s Board of Governors meeting and highlight the consequences of any politically-motivated action, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Araqchi warned that Iran would respond appropriately to any improper move by European parties, stressing that those who misuse the IAEA and its arrangements to advance political goals against Iran would bear full responsibility for the repercussions.
