No Deal without Recognition of Iran’s Right to Enrichment: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the US’ refusal to recognize Iran’s right to enrich uranium will ruin any chance of an agreement.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart in Cairo on Monday, Araqchi said Iran will soon respond to a proposal the US has submitted via Oman.

“That response will be based on the principles of the Iranian nation,” he stated.

The Iranian foreign minister stressed that no ultimate agreement will be signed if Iran’s right to enrichment is not acknowledged.

Reiterating the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, Araqchi underscored that Tehran would by no means abandon its enrichment rights.

The Iranian authorities have already made it clear that under no circumstances will Iran forgo its nuclear rights, including the right to enrichment for peaceful purposes.

Iran and the US have held five rounds of talks since April 12, mediated by Oman, with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
