Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf arrived in Cuba on Tuesday in a tour of Latin America that took him earlier to Venezuela.
In a meeting with the secretary of Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, Qalibaf stressed the need to employ all joint capacities to stand against the unilateral policies of the enemies.
“Iran and Cuba have common goals, friends and enemies,” Qalibaf stated.
Hailing Cuba as a friendly and independent state, the Iranian Parliament speaker said freedom and independence come at a cost, because the arrogant powers always opt for cruelty, injustice and pressure.
Qalibaf noted that Iran and Cuba can share experiences to build up their strength and reduce the pressure of sanctions.
The Iranian Parliament speaker is scheduled to visit Brazil after Cuba to take part in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
The 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum will take place on June 3-5 at the National Congress Palace in Brasilia.
