FM: Iran Ready to Assist in Reconstruction of Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi voiced the country’s readiness to help the government of Lebanon with the process of reconstruction.

In a meeting held in Beirut on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun talked about the relations between two countries as well as the latest regional and international developments.

Araqchi said Iran is prepared to expand relations with Lebanon in all areas on the basis of mutual respect and the common interests.

He also expressed the Iranian companies’ readiness to assist the Lebanese government in the process of reconstruction.

Araqchi further voiced Iran’s support for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon and for dialogue among the Lebanese ethnic and political groups with the purpose of reaching national consensus and settling the Arab country’s problems.

For his part, Aoun highlighted his government’s policy of enhancement of relations with all countries.

He also voiced Lebanon’s readiness to broaden friendly ties with Iran in diverse fields.

The president noted that his government’s top priorities are to end the occupation of parts of Lebanon and reconstruct the damages caused by the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression.

Araqchi has traveled to Lebanon after a visit to Egypt.
