“In yet another blatant violation of international humanitarian law, the Zionist regime attacked an ambulance in Tehran, killing 3 civilian medical personnel. This is a deliberate manslaughter,” Esmaeil Baqaei said in a post on his X account on Friday.
“Under the Geneva Conventions, targeting medical personnel and humanitarian vehicles during relief operations is strictly prohibited and considered war crime,” he added.
“Israel has a long record of attacking medical facilities, aid convoys, and healthcare workers. This normalization of atrocity crimes is a direct result of 'impunity' afforded to Israel through indifference and inaction of those who are legally tasked and morally obliged to talk & act,” Baqaei stated.
“The UNSC shall take swift action to shoulder its responsibility for stopping the aggressor from further atrocity,” he underscored.
“All States, including Switzerland as the Geneva Conventions' custodian, ICRC, Human Rights Council, WHO and other relevant int'l organizations have all a shared responsibility to ensure respect for IHL,” the Iranian spokesman stated.
The Zionist regime waged an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13. It carried out airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear, military and residential sites that resulted in the martyrdom of scores of top military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary citizens.
