President Pezeshkian landed in the city of Khankendi, where the ECO summit is being held, after departing Iran earlier on Friday morning.

He was officially seen off by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qomi, Deputy for International Affairs in the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Pezeshkian is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit and hold bilateral meetings with several participating heads of state.

“This summit provides an opportunity to exchange views on economic, social, and political issues, and to create avenues for joint cooperation in line with regional interests,” Pezeshkian said before leaving for The Azerbaijan Republic.

The Iranian president described the trip as part of a broader trilateral framework between Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan.

He said the gathering marks the first step in enhancing regional collaboration among the ten ECO member states, which include Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.

“The 17th ECO summit will be attended by 10 heads of state and senior officials,” he added.

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of strengthening regional ties, expressing hope that the visit would foster peace, stability, and greater cooperation among neighboring countries.

“The more coordination and solidarity there is among regional states, the less opportunity there will be for adversaries to stir instability,” he stated.
