Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who is currently in China to participate in a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with his Malaysian counterpart Mohamad Hasan.

Referring to his recent meeting with the Malaysian prime minister on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, Araqchi emphasized Iran’s commitment to following up on the agreements made and to advancing the development of bilateral relations between the two nations.

During the call, the two foreign ministers expressed interest in continuing their dialogue and consultations on bilateral ties as well as on key developments in the West Asia region, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

The Malaysian foreign minister highlighted his government's interest in strengthening relations with Iran and extended an invitation to his Iranian counterpart to visit Malaysia at a convenient time.
