Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Monday.

Pezeshkian voiced optimism about the swift establishment of formal relations between Tehran and Cairo, expressing satisfaction with the diplomatic exchanges already underway.

He said the two nations, with their rich histories and cultural heritage, can build cooperation that benefits not only themselves but also the broader Islamic and regional community.

Pezeshkian reiterated that enhanced cohesion and solidarity among the Muslim countries is the most effective path to confronting Israeli aggression and supporting the oppressed people of Palestine.

He noted that Iran stands ready to broaden ties with Egypt on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests.

President el-Sisi, for his part, welcomed the progress made in bilateral interactions and highlighted the great potential for Iran and Egypt to cooperate in advancing the interests of both nations and the wider region.

He stressed the importance of a unified, practical stance among the Islamic countries in the face of the escalating crimes of the Zionist regime, calling closer cooperation between Muslim states an urgent necessity.
