In comments at a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Tehran on Monday, Pezeshkian described Iran–Azerbaijan ties as longstanding and based on cultural and religious connections.
He said Iran is ready to expand collaboration in political, economic, and cultural fields, noting that there are no barriers to closer engagement.
Referring to his recent trip to Azerbaijan Republic, the president pointed to positive agreements reached between senior officials of both nations and stressed that utilizing the full potential of cooperation would benefit both sides.
Mustafayev, delivering greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, reaffirmed Baku’s commitment to developing relations with Tehran.
He said Pezeshkian’s visit opened a new stage in bilateral ties, with agreements now moving into implementation.
The deputy Azeri prime minister highlighted ongoing cooperation in agriculture, industry, energy, and joint projects, and reiterated Azerbaijan’s intention to deepen these efforts.
He also rejected reports suggesting the Republic of Azerbaijan’s involvement in regional conflicts, stating that Azerbaijan respects the territorial integrity of neighboring countries and will not allow its territory to be used against Iran.
