What follows is the text of a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on the coming into force of the strategic agreement between Iran and Russia:

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, signed in Moscow on January 16, 2025 by the presidents of the two countries, entered into force on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The conclusion of the treaty reflects the determination of the leaders of both countries to deepen relations and strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, on the basis of mutual respect, good-neighborliness, and the shared higher interests of the two nations.

The Iran-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty marks a turning point in the history of bilateral relations and heralds the elevation of friendly ties between the two countries across various fields of mutual concern.

The important document, by defining areas and priorities of cooperation, sets out a clear framework for strengthening relations in diverse domains, including diplomatic, economic, commercial, scientific-technological, energy, investment, defense, cultural, and beyond.

It also provides the necessary foundation for coordination and synergy to secure mutual interests, as well as joint efforts to safeguard international peace and security and to confront the growing threats and challenges against the rule of law at the international level and the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter.

Iran and Russia, fully aware of the fundamental importance of upholding the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter for the preservation of international peace and security, will spare no effort in defending multilateralism and respect for international law, including through enhanced cooperation within multilateral organizations and frameworks such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
