Israeli outlet i24News reported that Thunberg will be sent to Greece along with several Greek nationals who were also seized during the flotilla mission.
A total of 165 international activists are to be deported on the same flight.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying over 400 activists, lawmakers, and legal observers, was intercepted Wednesday while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza under Israel’s ongoing blockade.
Witnesses said Israeli forces boarded the vessels using excessive force, detaining participants and confiscating supplies intended for civilians.
According to correspondence obtained by The Guardian, Thunberg told Swedish diplomats she was held in a filthy cell “infested with bedbugs” and deprived of adequate food and water.
Another detainee told the newspaper that Israeli officers coerced Thunberg into posing with Israeli flags for propaganda photos.
Accounts from fellow participants described severe mistreatment.
Turkish activist Ersin Çelik told Anadolu Agency that Israeli soldiers “tortured Greta before our eyes,” forcing her to crawl and kiss the Israeli flag.
Italian journalist Lorenzo D’Agostino said she was “wrapped in the Israeli flag and paraded like a trophy,” a scene he described as “humiliating and dehumanizing.”
Rights groups have denounced Israel’s treatment of the detainees as a violation of international law, calling for accountability over what they described as “state-sanctioned cruelty” against peaceful humanitarian campaigners.
