The Israeli regime violated the newly implemented ceasefire by targeting a civil defense responder in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of northern Gaza, resulting in one martyr and several injuries, according to a Palestinian emergency services source.
The attack marks a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement, which had just been approved by the Israeli cabinet and entered into force.
Israel’s Channel 13 reported that the regime has yet to release the list of Palestinian prisoners slated for release and is seeking to alter at least ten names, further straining the credibility of the deal.
These developments underscore that the occupying Israeli regime remains defiant of all agreements and international law, continuing its pattern of aggression and deceit.
Following the announcement of the ceasefire, the Israeli military claimed it had begun withdrawing forces from the Gaza Strip. Footage released on Friday showed Israeli units and military equipment being pulled back from parts of the enclave.
The Hebrew daily Israel Hayom confirmed that the regime’s army started its initial phase of withdrawal toward the so-called “yellow line” in Gaza. Similarly, the Hebrew news site Walla reported that Israeli troops began retreating from Gaza City and the al-Shati refugee camp toward agreed-upon positions, with the Golani Brigade units exiting the Strip.
Israeli Army Radio also stated that the reserve “Etzioni” Brigade withdrew from Khan Younis in southern Gaza, while Channel 12 said the 188th Armored Brigade had also left the area.
These withdrawals are taking place under the ceasefire framework marking the declared end of Israel’s devastating war on Gaza — a war that left massive destruction and thousands of Palestinian casualties.
Khalil al-Hayya, head of the Hamas negotiation team and the group’s senior figure in Gaza, said Thursday: “We now announce the start of implementing a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of occupying forces, the entry of humanitarian aid, the reopening of the Rafah crossing in all directions, and the exchange of prisoners.”
