Beirut Hosts Major Scout Gathering Honoring Nasrallah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 60,000 boys and girls from across Lebanon gathered in Beirut on Sunday to commemorate martyred Hezbollah leaders Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and Seyed Hashem Safieddine during one of the largest scout assemblies ever held in the country.

Lebanese media reported that the event, held at the Beirut Sports City complex, took place under the slogan “Generations of Seyed (Nasrallah).”

According to Al-Manar TV, over 60,000 members of the Imam Mahdi Scouts attended the gathering to honor the memory of Nasrallah and Safieddine, and to mark the 40th anniversary of the organization's founding.

Dozens of male and female scouts participated in “the world’s largest scouting event”, featuring various activities, some of them unprecedented.

Scouts from different regions of Lebanon had been preparing for months, rallying under the slogan “We remain loyal to our pledge, O Nasrallah.”

Founded in 1985, the Imam Mahdi Scouts—one of Hezbollah’s key social organizations—plays a major role in community support and humanitarian work, especially in deprived areas.

Its centers operate in Beirut, Jabal Amel, Nabatieh, and the Beqaa Valley.

The organization covers children and youth aged six to 18, with membership exceeding 76,000, six times larger than all other Lebanese scouting groups combined.

Most members are students from Al-Mahdi schools who receive specialized training and take part in cultural, religious, and social programs during weekends.

The Imam Mahdi Scouts represent Lebanon in the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

Their activities include humanitarian initiatives such as aiding people with disabilities, providing medicine to patients, visiting the sick, rebuilding homes in poor areas, and cleaning mosques, schools, and community centers.

Cultural and educational programs such as sports teams, skill workshops, and environmental campaigns are also part of their mission.

Support for the group comes from charitable donors, religious authorities, and educational institutions.
