According to Israel’s Hebrew-language News One website, soldiers of the Israeli regime attacked one of the buses carrying Palestinian prisoners who were being freed.
The report cited a spokesperson for the Israeli Prison Service, saying that during the transfer of several Palestinian security detainees to northern Gaza, some began to celebrate inside the bus.
The soldiers accompanying the convoy responded violently, storming the vehicle and beating the prisoners.
The outlet said special units quickly intervened as soon as signs of happiness appeared among the detainees and launched a harsh assault on them.
The Israeli Prison Service claimed it would continue its policy of banning any form of celebration by Palestinian prisoners during release exchanges.
Separately, the Hebrew daily Calcalist reported that broad negotiations are underway in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh, signaling the official start of the second phase of talks.
US President Donald Trump met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi there and told reporters that the next phase of his Gaza “peace initiative” had begun.
According to the paper, this phase involves the most contentious issues — disarming Gaza and forming a new administration excluding Hamas — though no agreement has been reached.
Trump told journalists that “the stages overlap,” referring to the simultaneous progress of multiple tracks.
Later, the report added, Trump briefly met Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and shook hands with him following the ceasefire deal — a move seen as symbolic, given Washington’s earlier refusal to grant Abbas a visa for the UN General Assembly.
