Speaking at a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Russian State University of Cinematography to commemorate the 2,550th anniversary of the proclamation of the world’s first charter of human rights, Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali lashed out at Israeli Knesset speaker Amir Ohana for likening Trump to Cyrus the Great.
“Those who describe the US president in such a manner must be reminded that one cannot call someone who supports the massacre of tens of thousands of people in a small land called Gaza a defender of human rights,” the envoy said.
Highlighting the importance of recognizing today’s global challenges in the pursuit of genuine human rights, Jalali noted that in the 21st century, the world continues to grapple with extremism, aggression, injustice, and inequality — all of which demonstrate the urgent need to return to civilizational and moral traditions.
