Araqchi, who has traveled to Kampala to attend the meeting, noted that NAM addresses all global issues, including issues of economic, social, and political development.
Its final statement or final document has more than 1,500 paragraphs, he said, adding that at the suggestion of the Islamic Republic of Iran, additional paragraphs were added, the most important of which is the strong condemnation of the June attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States on Iran.
In denouncing the acts of aggression, the statement has used the terms “heinous and unacceptable attacks”, he said, adding that the movement has expressed solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The top diplomat noted that there is also a separate paragraph condemning the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities by the US.
He added that the Israeli terrorist operation in Lebanon using pagers was also condemned in the statement.
But there is one clause in both the meeting and the final document that is of utmost importance, and that is the declaration of support for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the snapback issue in Araqchi stated.
The statement says that from the perspective of the Non-Aligned Movement, UNSC Resolution 2231 is still valid and its provisions and timetable must be observed, and based on paragraph 8, this resolution must be dissolved on the due date, namely October 18, which is two or three days away, he emphasized.
This is precisely the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the position of Russia, China, and some other countries in the Security Council that rejects the position of the United States and European countries that believe a snapback has taken place, Araqchi noted.
It means that in fact NAM countries reject the snapback issue and consider it illegal, and that they believe that Resolution 2231 should be dissolved on October 18, he went on to say.
“This is truly a great achievement for the Islamic Republic of Iran, meaning that almost all members of the Non-Aligned Movement, which is more than 100 countries, supported (Iran’s) position.”
