Asked about the recent comments from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about Moscow’s continued commitment to military-technical cooperation with Iran in compliance with international law and post-sanctions frameworks, Baqaei said at a weekly press conference on Monday, “The course of cooperation between Iran and Russia is progressing in all fields.”
Highlighting several major fundamental agreements between Iran and Russia, the spokesman said the joint comprehensive agreement entails broad cooperation, such as in the defense sector.
He stated that cooperation between Tehran and Moscow will continue seriously with the termination of the UNSCR 2231.
Asked about a recent visit to Moscow by Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and the comments by Russia President Vladimir Putin about the Israeli regime’s message on its reluctance to start a new conflict with Iran, Baqaei said the contacts between Tehran and Moscow are in progress while Iran is naturally engaged in constant consultations with its friends across the region.
He announced that Russia’s special representative for Syria is now in Tehran to hold talks with the Iranian Foreign Ministry officials, noting that such contacts are part of the framework of bilateral consultations.
