In comments at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Cong Peiwu said China is willing to work with Iran to implement the understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries and to enhance mutual cooperation “for the well-being of both nations.”
Speaking about China’s approach to multilateralism, the ambassador said that unilateralism has intensified in today’s international community.
He said some countries, such as the United States, not only build walls but also cut cooperation chains. Cong Peiwu emphasized that China believes the world needs “a spirit of multilateralism and an inclusive economy.”
The envoy noted that recent global developments have underscored the growing demand for multilateralism and the formation of a multipolar international order.
Iran also supports multilateralism, he said, adding that both Tehran and Beijing hope to build a fair international order and share common positions in this regard.
Regarding China’s foreign policy, Cong Peiwu highlighted the goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind. He said China will continue to uphold an open policy and is ready to cooperate with other countries, including Iran.
According to the ambassador, Chinese President Xi Jinping has presented an important vision for building a community with a shared future for humanity, as well as four key initiatives, including the Belt and Road Initiative. “China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Iran,” he said, “to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.”
