Israeli Regime Escalates Gaza Assault despite Declared Ceasefire

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Despite the announced ceasefire, the Israeli regime launched renewed air, land, and sea attacks across the Gaza Strip, killing dozens of civilians, including children, and drawing global condemnation.

The Israeli regime’s military resumed large-scale bombardments across Gaza overnight, targeting residential areas and infrastructure in what witnesses described as one of the most intense attacks since the ceasefire was declared.

Warships, drones, and tanks opened fire on Gaza’s northern, western, and central regions.

At least 47 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza City and Khan Younis, with dozens more injured, according to local medical sources.

Al Jazeera correspondents reported that Israeli warplanes struck multiple locations, including al-Jalaa Street, al-Yarmouk, and al-Shuja’iya neighborhoods.

A strike on a residential home killed several civilians, among them a young boy and a girl.

In southern Gaza, medical officials at al-Shifa Hospital confirmed the killing of a mother and her daughter after an Israeli drone strike hit their home in Tel al-Hawa.

Another drone attack in Nuseirat refugee camp killed nine people, including three children.

Hospital sources reported that overnight Israeli bombings have left 33 civilians dead, including 11 children.

Despite the ongoing violence, Israeli officials have claimed the strikes are part of efforts to “reinforce” the ceasefire.

Channel 12 in Tel Aviv quoted an unnamed official as saying the recent attacks “help implement the truce.”

The official added, “Hamas must fear the return of war.”

US President Donald Trump defended the Israeli regime’s criminal actions, claiming, “These attacks are not a violation of the ceasefire but Israel’s right to self-defense.”

Meanwhile, NBC News cited Israeli sources claiming that prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Jared Kushner the assaults “do not break the ceasefire.”

In northern Gaza, Beit Lahia and al-Shati refugee camp were hit by artillery and airstrikes.

Medical staff reported several injuries after an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced families.

In Khan Younis, the Nasser Medical Complex confirmed two deaths and multiple injuries following a missile attack on a residential building in al-Amal district.

Israeli naval forces also shelled coastal areas near Rafah’s al-Mawasi zone, according to Al Jazeera’s correspondent.

The Turkish foreign ministry condemned the Israeli regime’s assaults as “a blatant breach of the ceasefire” and called for an immediate end to the attacks.

A member of the International Commission of Inquiry on Palestine told Al Jazeera that sufficient evidence exists to prove “war crimes” by Israeli military forces, saying several responsible commanders have already been identified.

The al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis reported ten more wounded in a separate strike near its compound on al-Qudra Street.

In the occupied West Bank, the student movement at Birzeit University called for demonstrations to protest Israel’s ongoing aggression against Gaza.
