The victim was identified as Ibrahim Salama, a staff member at Blida’s municipality office.
Residents reported that Israeli troops remained in the area for several hours during the night, and that screams were heard from the direction of the municipal building.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said Salama’s body was later handed over to civil defense units after the Lebanese army inspected the site of the killing.
Though Israeli regime troops have repeatedly violated Lebanese territory along the border, the deliberate killing of a civilian municipal worker marks a sharp escalation of aggression.
The incident adds to the regime’s continued breaches of the November ceasefire with Hezbollah, which have become an almost daily occurrence.
