Araqchi: US Admits Iran Divided World on Snapback

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US has been compelled to acknowledge that Iran succeeded in dividing the world over the issue of snapback sanctions, drawing a clear line between a majority that supported Iran’s position and a minority that sided with Washington, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

In an address at the Bu-Ali Sina University on Hamedan on Thursday, Araqchi referred to the developments at the UN Security Council during the snapback dispute, saying a serious division emerged among its members.

The foreign minister noted that, for the first time, two permanent members of the Security Council declared that they would not comply with the Council’s resolutions.

Araqchi said that even the Americans themselves admitted that Iran had managed to split the world into two parts — the majority of countries that supported Tehran’s stance, and a minority that aligned with the US and the West.

The minister also stated that the ability to generate international consensus and legitimacy in favor of one’s position is a sign of deterrence.

When a country can rally global support and isolate aggressors in the international arena, it demonstrates that its diplomacy and strategic approach are moving effectively along the path of strengthening deterrent power, Araqchi noted.
