Iran’s embassy in Mexico dismissed as a “great big lie” the Israeli-US allegation that Tehran had plotted to assassinate the regime’s ambassador.
Mexico’s foreign relations and security ministries jointly stated that they had “no report with respect to a supposed attempt against the ambassador of Israel in Mexico.”
The foreign ministry said it “reiterates its willingness to maintain fluid communication with all accredited diplomatic representations in our country,” while the security ministry “reaffirms its respectful and coordinated collaboration, always within the framework of national sovereignty, with all security agencies that request it.”
On X, the Iranian Embassy reiterated: “The accusation about a supposed attempt by Iran to assassinate the ambassador of the Israeli regime in Mexico is a media fabrication, a great lie whose objective is to harm the friendly and historic relations between both nations, which we categorically reject.”
The statement added that Iran and Mexico share “identical interests,” stressing that “the security and reputation of Mexico are also the security and reputation of Iran.”
“We will never betray the trust the Mexican government has placed in us. Under no circumstances will we damage the good image of the Mexican people, our friends. To betray Mexico’s interests would be to betray our own.”
The embassy further condemned Zionist propaganda accusing Iran of antisemitism as “a gross falsehood fabricated in the minds of racist Israeli leaders.”
“In Iran, there are more than 100 synagogues, all open to the public and without the need for security guards,” the statement said.
“During the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran in June, there was not a single incident of verbal harassment toward the large Jewish community living peacefully in our country. Search Google and compare Iran’s record with that of the United States,” the statement concluded.
