FM Reaffirms Iran’s Unwavering Support for Resistance Axis

Addressing the Parliament on Monday, Araqchi outlined the Foreign Ministry’s activities over the past 14 months under the framework of Iran’s 7th Development Plan and other upper-level documents.

He said the Foreign Ministry has pursued its objectives along four main paths, namely security-oriented diplomacy, economic and development diplomacy, power- and influence-building diplomacy, and idea- and narrative-driven diplomacy.

Araqchi emphasized the consolidation and strengthening of the resistance axis and support for unity-promoting movements in the Islamic world. He recalled that since the formation of President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration, Iran has faced several waves of US and Israeli crimes against the resistance and the Muslim world --from the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh after the presidential inauguration and the martyrdom of Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, to the Israeli atrocities in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Palestine, as well as the Israeli attacks against Iran and the recent strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar.

Araqchi said a significant portion of the Foreign Ministry’s efforts have been devoted to supporting the resistance front, noting that his ministry has acted, in practice, as the diplomatic arm of the resistance.

The minister noted that his regional visits --including to Damascus and Beirut during peak confrontations-- along with Iran’s active presence in international organizations, meetings, phone contacts, and correspondence with counterparts and international bodies, all served this purpose.

Iran has worked to activate regional and international mechanisms, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), he explained.

The minister noted that through bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, as well as public and media diplomacy, Iran has supported initiatives to pressure the Zionist regime.

Araqchi said the Foreign Ministry’s active engagement has also expanded Iran’s regional role and strengthened the multipolar world order.

The foreign minister also referred to Iran’s diplomatic and legal measures over the past year, including defending the country’s positions and countering international accusations on human rights; presenting Iran’s human rights achievements; safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity; and working within the UN, OIC, SCO, and BRICS frameworks to oppose coercive measures and unilateral sanctions.

Araqchi stressed that active diplomacy against the aggression of the US and the Zionist regime led to the condemnation of their actions by more than 120 countries. He also highlighted Iran’s strong neighborhood policy, close relations with Russia and China, consultations with like-minded nations, and unwavering support for the people of Palestine and Lebanon and the regional resistance movements.

He also stated that Iran’s diplomatic efforts at the United Nations regarding the so-called snapback mechanism exposed deep divisions within the Security Council.

China and Russia took firm stances alongside Iran, and 121 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement supported Iran’s position, rejecting the reactivation of previous UN Security Council resolutions, Araqchi noted.
