Iran, Qatar Stress Protecting Palestinian Right to Self-Determination

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Qatari foreign ministers rejected the latest US draft UN resolution and stressed continued efforts to safeguard Palestinians’ legitimate rights, particularly their right to determine their future.

On Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held a phone call with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Tehran and Doha in all areas of mutual interest.

During the exchange, the ministers voiced concern over mounting tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and emphasized the need for continued regional efforts to preserve peace and stability.

They also discussed the latest developments in Gaza, rejecting the recent US draft resolution submitted to the UN Security Council, which Tehran and Doha view as a political maneuver to shield the Israeli regime from accountability for its crimes against Palestinians.

Both top diplomats reaffirmed their determination to continue consultations aimed at preventing the violation of the Palestinian nation’s legitimate rights, particularly their right to self-determination.
