Iran Refutes G7’s Baseless Allegations

Esmaeil Baqaei said in a statement released on November 13 that the G7’s endorsement of the unlawful attempt by the US and three European countries to misuse the JCPOA dispute-resolution mechanism --aimed at restoring previously annulled UN Security Council resolutions against Iran-- constitutes open support for an internationally delinquent action.

He stressed that no political framing by the G7 can conceal the fundamentally illegal and unjustifiable nature of the measures taken by the US and the European troika.

The spokesman also criticized the G7’s demand for Iran’s expanded cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), describing it as “deceitful and interventionist” given the group’s deliberate omission of the US and the Zionist regime’s illegal military attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.

He noted that Washington’s unilateral and illegal withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 and its subsequent act of aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities remain the primary causes of the current situation, while the three European states, by following the US lead and failing to fulfill their commitments, have further violated the accord in bad faith.

Baqaei also condemned the G7’s stance on Palestine as irresponsible and contrary to the group’s international obligations. He noted that the unconditional support of the US and its allies for the Zionist regime, coupled with their tolerance of its occupation and acts against the Palestinian people, has completely undermined the credibility of their human-rights rhetoric.

Responding to G7 accusations regarding Ukraine, the spokesman reiterated Iran’s principled position opposing war and supporting a diplomatic resolution through dialogue among the parties involved. He emphasized that Iran has played no role in the conflict, adding that those making accusations should abandon self-righteous narratives and instead correct their own flawed policies that have contributed to global insecurity.

At their November 11-12 meeting in Niagara under Canada’s presidency, the G7 Foreign Ministers urged Iran to fulfill obligations under UN Security Council resolutions and the Non-Proliferation Treaty, resume full cooperation with the IAEA, and re-engage in direct talks with the US.
