Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who has traveled to Muscat to participate in a multilateral meeting on diplomacy and mediation as well as to meet with his Omani counterpart, held a meeting with Musa Al-Koni, the vice president of the Libyan Presidential Council, on Monday.
The two sides exchanged views on the relations between Iran and Libya and the latest international developments.
They expressed satisfaction with the growing trend of Iran-Libya relations, emphasizing the importance of stronger ties in all areas of mutual interest.
Referring to the links between the two countries and the history of good relations between the two nations, Araqchi expressed hope that with the stabilization of political and security conditions in Libya, the bilateral relations would expand in all fields.
For his part, Al-Koni appreciated Iran’s principled positions regarding the need to respect Libya’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, voicing the new Libyan leadership’s determination to expand relations with Iran.
The two officials also talked about the situation of the Islamic world --especially the issue of occupied Palestine-- and the necessity of closer cooperation and synergy among the Islamic countries to stop the genocide of Palestinians and effectively confront the warmongering actions of the Zionist regime against Muslim nations.
