According to the Commander of the Sistan and Balouchestan Border Police, forces from the Esfandak Tactical Unit were conducting a routine patrol near Esfandak village two month ago when they were ambushed by a terrorist group. The border guards immediately engaged the attackers, confronting the threat with decisive resolve.
The commander reported that a border guard named Matin Bahoorzehi Sourani was struck in the abdomen by gunfire from unidentified armed militants operating under the guise of a taxi vehicle. Despite intensive medical care at Samen al-A’emmeh Hospital in Mashhad, he succumbed to his injuries after 42 days, achieving the esteemed honor of martyrdom.
The commander statement said that the martyred border guard, a Sunni resident of Saravan, gave his life with dignity and valor in the sacred mission of defending the homeland.
He reiterated that operations to track and apprehend the perpetrators are underway, stressing that terrorists must recognize that such treacherous attacks and the martyrdom of dedicated officers will only strengthen Iran’s determination to confront extremist networks and armed criminals.
He affirmed that the security of the Iranian people remains the unwavering red line of the nation’s law enforcement, and hostile actors will not succeed in their efforts to undermine stability or disrupt public safety.
