TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Foreign Ministry of Iran condemned a deadly terrorist drone attack in Tajikistan’s Khatlon Province that has killed three Chinese workers.

In a statement released on Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the terrorist attack in Shamsiddin Shohin district of Tajikistan’s border province of Khatlon, which resulted in the death of three Chinese nationals working in the region.

The spokesman extended condolences to the families of the victims and expressed Iran’s solidarity with the governments of Tajikistan and China.

Highlighting Iran’s principled stance on the firm condemnation of all forms and manifestations of terrorism, Baqaei stressed the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation to prevent and combat terrorism.

On Thursday, Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry said the attack was carried out the previous night from inside Afghanistan with the use of a drone equipped with grenades and firearms.

Afghanistan on Friday expressed “deep regret” and strongly condemned the cross-border attack into neighboring Tajikistan, saying an initial assessment indicated that “this incident involves elements that are trying to create chaos, instability, and distrust between countries in the region.”
