In comments at his weekly press conference on Sunday, Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran would study the contents of the newly released US National Security Strategy, but noted that the document openly reveals what successive US administrations had pursued and concealed for years.
He said the strategy explicitly highlights ensuring the security of the Zionist regime and securing energy interests.
Baqaei added that the document shows the US placing itself in the position of a judge over all other nations.
The strategy also makes no reference to the rights of the Palestinian people, which demonstrates that the text is essentially a security document for the Israeli regime and reflects Washington’s sole concern is ensuring Israeli dominance in the region, the Iranian spokesman noted, saying such a stance further exposes US complicity in the crimes committed by the Zionist regime.
The administration of US President Donald Trump released the new US National Security Strategy on December 4.
The document criticizes Washington’s European allies and emphasizes expanding US influence in the Western Hemisphere. Its principles --focused on non-interventionism and the “America First” approach-- mark a clear departure from the 2022 strategy, which framed the United States as a promoter of democracy and guardian of the existing international order.
