Addressing an event on the occasion of the Student Day in Tehran on Monday, Eslami said Iran has recorded around 500 achievements in the nuclear industry during the past three years.
He noted that Iran has succeeded in producing natural helium gas, saying the global helium market is large and that, as a consumer, Iran is now working to develop sufficient capacity to meet its domestic needs —a goal made possible through dedicated research.
Eslami stated that a 100,000-cubic-meter desalination project in the southern port city of Bushehr is underway and would be inaugurated soon.
He said the path to industrial development requires first meeting domestic demand and then securing a share in international markets. According to Eslami, Iran’s exports of heavy-water derivatives have increased tenfold compared to two or three years ago.
Iran’s knowledge-based heavy-water company ranks among the world’s top firms in the field, he stated, adding that Iranian heavy water hold the highest purity level globally -an achievement reached through intensive research efforts.
Eslami noted that international demand for heavy water continues to grow, with at least 56 countries either using Iranian products or submitting requests to do so.
He also stated that 1.5 million people in Iran use radiopharmaceuticals annually and emphasized that, without uranium enrichment, the country would be unable to produce these vital medical products.
