During an address at Baku State University on Monday evening, Araqchi outlined Iran’s views on the importance of diplomacy and intergovernmental cooperation in resolving international issues.
The foreign minister referred to diplomacy as a key instrument for safeguarding a nation’s interests. He elaborated on the prerequisites and requirements of effective and successful diplomacy, stressing that authoritative negotiation is itself a source of national power.
He said the current international relations are affected by the growing dominance of lawbreaking by certain powers and their resort to coercion in pursuit of foreign policy objectives.
The replacement of the “rule of law” with a “rule of an imposed order” grounded in brute force can in no way ensure international peace and security, Araqchi stated, warning that it only generates greater insecurity and a return to the law of the jungle.
Pointing to the Iranian nation’s heroic defense of national sovereignty and territorial integrity during the Israeli and US war of aggression in June, Araqchi said the people of Iran have demonstrated that, just as they negotiate in good faith and with confidence to secure their legitimate national interests, they are also firm and determined in defending their dignity and national interests, and will not hesitate to fight to protect Iran against foreign aggression.
