Pezeshkian Calls for Deeper Constructive Engagement among Muslim States

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need for Muslim countries to strengthen their ties and pursue constructive interaction in all fields, calling for plans to share experiences and deepen cooperation.

Pezeshkian made the remarks in Tehran on Wednesday before departing for Kazakhstan on a Central Asia tour that will also take him to Turkmenistan.

He said the visit to Kazakhstan is taking place at the official invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, describing the trip as an opportunity to expand economic, cultural, and regional peace-related cooperation between the two countries.

He said expert groups and relevant commissions have already held productive meetings ahead of the visit, reaching agreements on economic, industrial, tourism, cultural, mining, transportation, trade, and transit issues.

Pezeshkian stressed that Muslim nations, based on their beliefs and sense of neighborly duty, should work to make their relations deeper and more sincere.

Muslims must strive for constructive interaction in all areas and exchange their experiences with one another, he stated, adding that the trip could provide a valuable platform for strengthening commercial and cultural ties.

The Iranian president said such exchanges would help enhance coordination among the countries involved in expanding bilateral relations.

Pezeshkian noted that his visit to Turkmenistan, which will take place at the invitation of the Turkmen president to attend the Peace and Trust Summit, would include both participation in the meeting and discussions with attending leaders.

He added that the summit and its sidelines would also offer an opportunity to discuss warmongering by those who claim to promote peace, security, and humanity while supporting the criminal Zionist regime responsible for genocide and the killing of innocent women and children through bombings as well as deprivation of water and food.

The Iranian president said he would seek, both in his bilateral meetings and in his address to the Peace and Trust Summit, to engage sincerely with other leaders not only in words but also in efforts to promote lasting peace and trust in the world.

Pezeshkian said groups of Iranian economic actors would accompany him in the trip to Kazakhstan, expressing hope that bilateral trade and economic exchanges -currently around $400 million- could rise to higher levels.

There is potential for Iran and Kazakhstan to expand cooperation in all areas and enhance collaboration not only bilaterally but through regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, the Eurasian Economic Union, and ECO, the president stated.
