“As a matter of principle, Iran condemns the violent attack against civilians in Sydney, Australia,” Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei said in a post on his X account on Sunday.
“Terror violence and mass killing shall be condemned, wherever they're committed, as unlawful and criminal,” he stated.
At least 15 people were killed and dozens more were injured in a shooting after two gunmen attacked a Jewish holiday event at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Sunday.
Police said the only suspects are a 50-year-old man, who was shot and killed by police, and his 24-year-old son.
Search warrants showed the 50-year-old man was a licensed firearms owner and has six firearms licensed to him, police said.
