Iran, Belarus Discuss Closer Coordination at International Level

In a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed satisfaction with the growing relations between the two countries.

He described the holding of the Iran-Belarus Joint Economic Commission in Tehran last week as an important step toward expanding economic relations.

Araqchi also stressed Iran’s determination to follow up on the implementation of the understandings reached to develop cooperation in all areas of interest to both sides, as well as to broaden economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.

The foreign minister also outlined Iran’s views on regional and international developments.

The both sides emphasized the importance of closer coordination and cooperation at the level of international organizations and multilateral arrangements, particularly within the United Nations, the BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with a view to safeguarding the rule of law and multilateralism at the international level.

For his part, Lukashenko pointed to the very good relations between Minsk and Tehran and emphasized his country’s readiness to expand and deepen ties in all areas of mutual interest, especially in the economic and trade sectors.
