During his official visit to Russia, Araqchi met with Anatoly Torkunov, rector of MGIMO University, and the heads of various university departments.
In the meeting, Araqchi noted the strong political and economic relations between Iran and Russia and emphasized the potential of these ties as a platform for enhancing cooperation in scientific, cultural, and academic fields.
The Iranian foreign minister described the teaching of Persian language at MGIMO as a distinctive asset of the university and expressed hope that expanding collaboration with Iranian universities and research institutions —including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ School of International Relations— would further strengthen academic and cultural bonds between the two nations.
Torkunov, for his part, welcomed the meeting and highlighted the university’s longstanding expertise in Persian language instruction and Iran-related studies.
He also referred to the extensive existing collaborations with Iranian universities and expressed the institution’s readiness to expand exchanges with Iranian academic and research circles.
Araqchi later addressed MGIMO students, presenting Iran’s perspectives on international developments and answering their questions about Iran-Russia bilateral relations and global trends.
