The ministry said the United States was acting unlawfully by restricting Iran’s diplomatic representation while claiming humanitarian concern, according to a statement posted on its official account.
It said military aggression against Iran, cooperation with a “genocidal regime” in the killing of Iranian citizens, the imposition of illegal sanctions and the abuse of UN host-country privileges were all part of the same pattern of behavior.
“These actions reflect nothing but the US regime’s blatant disregard for moral and humanitarian principles, international law and the United Nations Charter,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the ministry said attempts by the US State Department to conceal these actions under the “hypocritical” banner of “concern for the Iranian people” were “deceptive and contemptible.”
It said illegal sanctions imposed on Iranians and unlawful restrictions on their representatives at the United Nations directly violated fundamental human rights and diplomatic norms.
Separately, the statement said the conduct showed the United States was exploiting its role as UN host as a tool of coercive foreign policy, using pressure on diplomats to intimidate member states.
It added that compliance with host-country obligations to the United Nations was not a favor but a binding legal duty under the 1946 Headquarters Agreement.
