The death sentence of Aqeel Keshavarz, who had been convicted of spying for the Zionist regime, maintaining intelligence cooperation with it, and photographing military and security sites, was implemented after the ruling was upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court and all legal formalities were completed.
The case dates back to spring 2025, when a patrol unit of the Iranian Army’s protection forces in the northwestern city of Orumiyeh encountered a suspicious case while on mission.
During patrol operations, army protection agents noticed a young man photographing the headquarters building of a military site. The suspect was arrested and, after coordination and obtaining a judicial warrant, was handed over to the relevant authorities.
An inspection of his mobile phone revealed a message from a number linked to the Zionist regime and from an individual using the username ‘Osher’, which reinforced suspicions of his links to the Israeli regime. Subsequent searches of Aqeel Keshavarz’s place of residence led to the discovery of further documents and evidence.
During a search of the hotel where Keshavarz had been staying, a coded notebook containing the names and addresses of several security institutions was found. After preliminary investigations, the suspect was transferred to a detention center.
The Mossad spy had previously also carried out operations for the terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO).
According to the case file, Keshavarz had established contact with the intelligence and security services of the Zionist regime through cyberspace. During the period of his cooperation with the regime, he maintained separate communications with the regime’s army and the Mossad spy service.
