Addressing a farewell ceremony on Monday for Iran’s newly appointed ambassador to Georgia, Ali Moujani, Pezeshkian highlighted the Caucasus’ strategic significance as a key bridge linking Asia and Europe.

The president described the region as a historic cultural and economic crossroads with vast potential to connect regional and trans-regional economies, emphasizing that deeper engagement with Caucasus countries -particularly Georgia- must remain a priority in Iran’s foreign policy.

He pointed to the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between the Iranian and Georgian people, describing them as a shared collective heritage and a valuable foundation for sustainable bilateral cooperation.

He reaffirmed that justice, human dignity, respect for national sovereignty, and territorial integrity constitute the core principles guiding Iran’s approach to the Caucasus.

Pezeshkian also highlighted the region’s significant capacity to foster a complementary regional economy through synergy in transit corridors, production, agriculture, energy, and technology, noting that such cooperation could deliver balanced and mutual benefits.

Strengthening bilateral and multilateral dialogue, he added, would help lay the groundwork for lasting peace, stability, and shared prosperity.

Emphasizing the importance of regional transport corridors, the president called for joint cooperation and their non-exclusive use, saying such an approach would enhance human security, social welfare, and overall regional calm.

For his part, Moujani outlined his diplomatic priorities and pledged to utilize all available capacities to deepen friendly relations and elevate Iran’s role and standing in the Caucasus region.
