Addressing a cultural event in Isfahan on Thursday evening, Foreign Minister Araqchi referred to the developments of the 12-day war imposed by the US and the Zionist regime in June, saying Iran experienced resistance and steadfastness across the entire nation.
He noted that such experience demonstrated national cohesion as Iran’s greatest asset.
Araqchi said the enemy had made serious miscalculations, explaining that during the 12-day war they believed they could force the Iranian people into submission within one or two days.
According to the foreign minister, the adversaries’ mistaken assumption was that the people of Iran were dissatisfied and would take to the streets, but instead the Iranian nation entered the field to defend its land, sovereignty, and dignity, proving that the flag of the Iranian nation always remains raised.
Araqchi added that in the early days of the war, messages were sent from the opposing side calling for negotiations. He said even the Americans directly conveyed messages to him, proposing that hostilities stop from 4 am, with the Israeli regime halting its actions simultaneously.
Referring to a shift in Washington’s stance, Araqchi said that during the 12-day war the tone of the US president changed from calls for “unconditional surrender” to acceptance of a ceasefire, which he said reflected the failure of the enemy’s military objectives.
In conclusion, Araqchi stressed that today the enemy is seeking to achieve through economic warfare and sanctions what it failed to gain through military conflict. He said the Iranian administration is working around the clock, while the enemy has grown frustrated with military action and has placed economic pressure at the center of its agenda.
