VP Outlines Plan to Turn Iran into Regional Energy Trade Hub

In comments at a meeting of a headquarters on steering the regional energy trade, held in Tehran on Friday, Aref stressed the need to adopt concrete measures and programs to turn Iran into a regional energy trading hub.

He emphasized that Iran’s neighborhood-oriented foreign policy, the expansion of relations and cooperation with the regional countries, and active participation in major regional pacts and unions are key priorities of the administration of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The vice president added that by developing energy trade with the Eurasian Economic Union and countries in the region, Iran will be positioned as a regional center for energy exchanges.

During the meeting, participants reviewed and made decisions on plans, measures, and policy frameworks aimed at expanding and enhancing energy cooperation with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and regional countries.

The discussions were held in line with the provisions and objectives of the 7th Five-Year Development Plan, taking into account Iran’s strategic position in the region and the need for effective utilization of the country’s geopolitical capacities to achieve the goal of becoming a regional energy exchange hub.
