Abbas Araqchi held a meeting with a group of members of the National Elites Foundation in Tehran on Sunday to exchange views and benefit from elite perspectives in the field of diplomacy and foreign relations.
He stressed the key role of elites in enhancing decision-shaping and decision-making processes in foreign policy, noting that making use of their intellectual and scientific capacities could contribute to greater dynamism, innovation, and effectiveness within the country’s diplomatic apparatus and help pave the way for a smart approach to complex international developments.
Referring to the need to update foreign policy tools and approaches, Araqchi pointed to the targeted use of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, the strengthening of scientific diplomacy, the expansion of international interactions among Iranian universities, and special attention to major issues such as water diplomacy as key areas that could enhance the position of Iran in regional and global equations.
Araqchi also emphasized the role of scientific diplomacy in linking the country’s academic and research capacities with foreign policy needs, saying the Foreign Ministry stands ready, in cooperation with elites and scientific centers, to design and implement effective mechanisms to pursue the expansion of international scientific and technological interactions.
