Activists affiliated with the “National Action Group for Palestine,” a non-governmental organization, staged the demonstration in front of the parliament building in Rabat, the Moroccan capital, to show solidarity with Palestinian resistance against Israeli aggression and condemn the Israeli army’s criminal actions in Gaza.

Participants waved Palestinian flags and carried placards expressing support for the Palestinian people, including messages such as “Moroccans send greetings to the Palestinian people and commemorate the historic victory of Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupiers and all imperialist powers that support them” and “Genocide, systematic starvation and siege in Gaza are Zionist-Nazi crimes with the participation of Arab and international actors against the Palestinian people.”

Other signs carried by protesters included phrases like “Normalization of relations is complicity in the massacre of Gaza’s camps,” and “The Moroccan people, united with the Islamic Ummah, stand against aggression and with resistance until liberation and the collapse of normalization.”

Protesters chanted slogans such as “Gaza, Gaza, is a symbol of dignity,” “Despite starvation and destruction, Gaza is free and will not collapse,” “O free people everywhere, stop the massacres and open the crossings,” “It is shameful and disgraceful that Gaza is being destroyed,” “You Zionists are cowardly and child killers,” “A public trial must be held for the Zionist gang,” “The people want an end to normalization,” and “Death to normalization.”

The demonstrators ended the protest by burning the Israeli flag.

Morocco has consistently witnessed widespread demonstrations and ceremonies in support of the Palestinian people and resistance against occupation despite its government’s normalization process with Israel. Moroccans are calling for the annulment of Morocco’s normalization agreement with Israel.

Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain signed normalization agreements on September 15, 2020, known as the Abraham Accords by the White House. Following this, the governments of Morocco and Sudan also joined the agreements.
