No Way for US to Infiltrate Iran via JCPOA: Leader

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underscored that Iran will foil any US attempt to infiltrate the Islamic Republic via a nuclear deal whose future is still uncertain.

“Americans seek to make an excuse to infiltrate Iran through a (nuclear) deal whose fate and whether it will be rejected or approved is not yet certain either in Iran or the US,” the Leader said on Monday, in a meeting with the participants of two international gatherings in Tehran.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that Iran acts “decisively” to block Washington’s abuse of the outcomes of the nuclear talks, noting, “With all our strong capabilities, we will not allow Americans’ economic, political or cultural infiltration or political presence in Iran.”

The Leader also warned of US plans to regain long-term foothold in the region.

Imam Khamenei’s comments come against the backdrop of finalization of the text of a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

While many consider the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) a major breakthrough in the improvement of ties between Iran and the West, the Leader has already made it clear that Tehran’s policy toward the US will remain unchanged regardless of the ultimate fate of the JCPOA.

Elsewhere in the Monday meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned against a US plot for disintegration of the Middle East countries and creation of “small subordinate countries.”

“That would not happen by God’s grace,” the Leader stressed.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the partition of Iraq and Syria as the “Americans’ clear objective”, stressing that the territorial integrity of the regional countries, including Syria and Iraq, are highly significant for Iran.

The Leader further highlighted the irreconcilability of the regional policies of Iran and the US, saying, “Iran fully defends the (axis of anti-Israeli) resistance in the region, including the Palestinian resistance, and will support anyone who confronts Israel and hammers the Zionist regime.”

The Leader also put an emphasis on Iran’s support for the oppressed, including the people of Bahrain and Yemen, and noted, “Contrary to some baseless claims, we do not interfere in these countries, but continue to support the oppressed.”
